Those memories of your grandparents’ house evoke my own. Especially the fire. They always had a fire.

I love that you have one of their chairs. That’s such a wonderful reminder and a way for you to recreate some aspects of your memory of them but in your own home.

Hoping that you had a great time on Friday night, but that you’ve also been able to get some rest time over the weekend too 🧡😌

Beautiful rendering of the heart. I share the desire to hibernate and long for the warm of Alice & Bill’s home, especially because living with them gave me a window into my grandparent’s lives.

I’ve read Wintering by Katherine May for the last couple of years. Monthly chapters reads from September to March. Gets me through.

I most definitely know the feeling of grieving a place. One of my childhood fears that I remember most vividly was the fear of no longer feeling at home in the house I grew up in when my parents decided to rigorously renovate it, top to bottom. I was afraid that the drafty though cozy space where we were allowed to paint murals, jump on the couch and build blanket forts would become modern and sterile. I still sometimes long for that place where there was endless room for creativity and play.

Btw, how was your party? Funnily enough, I felt exactly the same on Saturday night when I had to get ready for one of my best friend’s birthday parties. Surprisingly though, one glass of wine got me in the mood and I had the best night in recent history. Hope you had fun too! ✨

Bless you. I still have my nanna's Lloyd loom chair which she had in her bedroom and must be well over a 100 years old now, and as I sit on it every day I remember her, her warmth and unconditional love.

I loved reading this Janelle, I was taken right into Phyl and Bill’s, it seemed so homely and familiar. I also love that you have one of their chairs, it sounds like you had a very special relationship, thank you for sharing that and your current innermost thoughts on hibernation with us. Sending love xx

So much that I love here! Yes to the hibernation even if I sort of like November. Much more than March. If only it would be possible to slow down and curl up in a comfy chair with a pile of books for the whole month.

I have a draft called Hibernation that I abandoned a week or so ago in favor of... just hibernating I suppose. Thank you for sharing this. It feels like you slid a little cup of warm tea intoy cave. ❤️

Nicely said. Listening to our intuition in that sense, really is important for the sake of our mental health and peace of mind.
