I LOVE a hotel room on my own! A hot bath, room service, huge bed to myself…what’s not to love?!

Also, early nights. If you need it, do it. I’ve gone to bed at 1930 before ❤️ I’m feeling quite drained today now, so it’ll be an early one for me. If I don’t, it will affect my tomorrow. As if Mondays aren’t bad enough, you don’t want to tackle them tired too!

Yes, yes, yes to all of this! 🙌🏻

You planned your trip with your needs in mind and I’m certain you enjoyed it all the more for that kindness to yourself. A great reminder that we make our own lives work best for us, not for some imaginary version of ourselves.

Yes to all this! I'm reading (and writing) this now in a hotel room - technically I don't need to be where I need to be until tomorrow but I know not having the stress of last minute travel is 10x worth the room cost. And I'm looking forward to getting into bed at 9.30pm, because I've learnt if I stray too far outside my 1hr window, I will not function properly the next day.

'...if I’d carried on doing everything the ‘typical’ way or the way I saw others do it, I’d be pretty unwell by this point.'

Yeah, true. We don't necessarily have to follow the 'usual/common' way of doing things; what matters more is our own mental health.

Absolutely everything you have written here speaks to me - the sensory overwhelm of London, staying in hotel rooms on my own, having new experiences but feeling a tad anxious about them! Like I said, everything! I feel seen, so thank you.

I would love to book myself a hotel for one to have somewhere to chill on weekends away but always worry about the cost or offending friends who offer their place! So great have you’ve reframed it that it costs you more in other ways. 🙌

A beautiful permission slip to prioritise ourself and not feel guilty about it - then we are able to give more anyway!

I really enjoyed reading this, I am on a similar journey of identifying my needs and fulfilling them even though it's different than others.

All of this!! When I traveled for work, I'd make all kinds of excuses to end my day at dinntand get away from after dinner socialising or - horror!- offers to stay over with a colleague instead of a hotel. Tip from a Brit - check out Travelodge and Best Westerns for, sometimes, even cheaper deals. Enjoy London but yeah, don't let it run you dry.
