I really understand this, I'm the same! I love the random photos that take you back to that event, and even the smallest joys where you're just appreciating something for yourself (I remember how I was feeling when I took the photo even if it's not a huge event), and having them actually in front of you often, can give you a real mood boost!
My degree is in Photography and Video so I do love a photograph and/or a video but, for me, it depends on the situation. Like, I went to see a band a couple of weeks ago and as soon as they came on stage there was a sea of phones and I wanted to shout “Just be here!” Plus, no one behind you wants to watch a band through someones iPhone! 😂
But, I do love how you’ve described the in between moments. They are definitely the best photos. I think there’s so much beauty and truth in those moments.

Yes, I am with you on that re concerts!! It's just sad to think that you're missing the one and only chance to live that moment and hear that exact unique performance because you're looking at it through the screen.
I think there is a temptation to post it and be like I WAS THERE. But then the footage is crap and everyone who you're posting it 'for' probably skips past it because they're not bothered.
NGL I definitely still feel tempted though and sometimes take a few! But I'm definitely mindful about really taking it all in.
I also really like going to gigs and concerts on my own sometimes. I can really just engage with the performance. I'm not looking at who I'm with to see how they're finding it. Or trying to capture those moments with loved ones as well as the performers.

I have never been to a gig on my own. I love the thought of it and being able to really engage but something also scares me. One to look deeper into... thank you, Janelle. X
Great piece. It’s so easy to take photos now but I would like to be more in the moment to really enjoy what I’m trying to capture. I was on a whale watching trip a few years ago and was quickly snapping as many photos as I could but then stopped, put my phone away and realised I just wanted to enjoy seeing something I may only experience once.
Thanks Sian! Oh WOW! That's an incredible experience. I think you definitely did the right thing just trying to soak up everything and really *see* and feel nature before your eyes. Photos would never be the same in that instance.
Totally different but I felt like this when I went to see my idol, Adele, perform.
I knew the pictures/ videos would be crap anyway if I tried to take any and I just wanted to be there in the moment!
I love photography. Ex art student here. It's one of many mediums of expression and creation for me. I'm less focused on it now because writing's got me truly hooked. I still love taking shots on my Pixel though .
That's brill, Susan. You've got so many different creative outlets to draw on. I'm with you on the writing. It's the only thing I've not got bored of in my life I think!

I love sponnies (great name!) rather than posed shots, those moments with so much of a story behind them.
This is awesome, Nat! I don't know anything about photography or how to capture a good photo. I just go for it but I definitely know what you mean about the thrill of catching a good'un. Wow! You've got quite the archive there! I can only imagine some of the magic and stories you've captured on your camera.
Haha thanks :) there are a lot of junk, mis-shots, missed shots, duds and dupes in there. I need a few years to thin them out for storage. Then there’s the question of how to use them. I have a few favourites framed in my house but so many to choose from.
The best photos, IMO, are those that you just catch without realising you’ve created gold. X

Have you been to the cinema on your own? I also like doing that sometimes. And maybe a bit less daunting to try first?
I have but only once. I did enjoy it though. Think it helped that the cinema was super quiet! 😂
